US CONSULATE ENDORSES BLUE SEAL CHEMICAL AS MODEL FOR US-NIGERIA COMMERCIAL PARTNERSHIP

Celebrates first Anniversary, Charge d’Affaires Heffern Highlights Company’s Role in Strengthening Bilateral Trade.

 Blue Seal Energy Group received formal endorsement from the United States Consulate in Lagos, with Charge d’Affaires Keith Heffern recognising the company’s contribution to strengthening US-Nigeria commercial ties and its role as a model for combining American technology and expertise with Nigerian entrepreneurialism.The endorsement was announced at an SCP (Single Company Promotion) event, celebrating Blue Seal’s first anniversary in Nigeria, on February 26, 2026, in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

 The event brought together government commissioners, permanent secretaries, and public and private-sector leaders to showcase Blue Seal’s operations and discuss opportunities to enhance bilateral commercial partnerships.“One of my favorite aspects of this job is supporting incredible U.S. companies that are doing business in Nigeria,” said Keith Heffern, Charge d’Affaires of the U.S. Mission to Nigeria. “I’m excited to be here to celebrate Blue Seal Energy Group’s one-year anniversary in Nigeria and to help showcase its innovative solutions to Nigeria’s public and private sector leaders.”

Heffern emphasised the strategic importance of partnerships like Blue Seal to the broader US-Nigeria relationship: “As Nigeria continues on its reform path, commercial partnerships that combine American technology and expertise with Nigerian entrepreneurialism will be central to unlocking long-term growth and shared prosperity. Our objective is to level the playing field so companies like Blue Seal can grow, compete, and expand in Nigeria.”

The Charge d’Affaires noted that two-way trade between the US and Nigeria has consistently risen in recent years, with 2024 figures hitting over $13 billion, highlighting the strong commercial and economic ties between the two nations. 

He stated that increased US investment in Nigeria means jobs for both Americans and Nigerians, while stronger commercial ties facilitate technology transfer, skills development, and knowledge sharing.Blue Seal Energy Group manufactures specialty drilling and production chemicals, refinery and water treatment chemicals, and general industrial chemicals to international quality standards. 

The company operates a production facility in Lagos with a 1.7 million liters per day capacity, employing over 50 Nigerians. Founded by US-trained chemical engineer Dr. Doyle Edeni, Blue Seal brings decades of oil and gas industry experience to Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.“We are privileged to have the support of the US Consulate as we work to bring international standards to Nigeria’s manufacturing sector,” said Dr. Edeni, who also serves as Managing Director of Blue Seal Energy Group. “This partnership represents an important validation of our commitment to quality and our approach to combining US technology with local expertise.”

We respect Nigeria’s culture and business environment, and we’re committed to working with local partners to deliver the same quality standards we maintain at our facility in Texas.”Following the US Consulate celebration, Blue Seal hosted stakeholders for a comprehensive plant tour on February 27, 2026, showcasing its manufacturing capabilities and operational processes.

The tour included ongoing conversations with a few select Nigerian universities, in a bid to formalise partnerships focused on knowledge transfer, student internships, and collaborative research in chemical engineering and manufacturing.The company addresses critical needs in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, including drilling and production optimisation, corrosion control, scaling prevention, and water treatment.
